Northwinds Hotel Canmore

Lovely stay. They say to make sure to book a mountain view; I'm convinced that this is an inside joke because the mountains are everywhere. Super roomy and modernized feel with great views. They even support local businesses by showcasing local soaps. Amazing value as well, especially when booking early. I regret not booking an extra night but our plans literally changed en route. It is, as with most places here, in the heart of Canmore, so everything is close-by. Banff is also a stone's throw away so this is a great spot to have... base camp, ha.

Stayed at this hotel and overall had a very positive experience. The price-to-quality ratio is excellent the room was clean, well maintained, and comfortable, with everything functioning as expected. We stayed in a room with a fireplace, which added a nice atmosphere and made the stay especially enjoyable after a long day outdoors. A small downside was that the room temperature felt quite warm, even with the heater in use. Better temperature control would improve comfort. One more thing to note: after booking, there were multiple emails sent by the booking platform, which felt a bit excessive. Not a major issue, but worth mentioning. Overall, a solid and pleasant stay. Would consider staying here again and would recommend it to others looking for good value accommodation in Canmore.

Northwinds is a decent hotel in Canmore. As with other Basecamp resorts I’ve been to, I generally find the service to be very hands off. However, for the price point and location, this isn’t the end of the world. If you have a busy day in Canmore and need somewhere comfortable to call home at the end of the day, northwinds is a fantastic option. There are little things that could make the stay more comfortable. We asked for cutlery at one point and there was nothing other than a fork available. Additionally, as others have noted the main floor can get a little noisy. However, the room was clean and comfortable.

I recently stayed at Northwind Hotels in Canmore, and it was honestly one of the most refreshing experiences I’ve had. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, welcoming staff and a calm, cozy atmosphere. But the real highlight? The views. Waking up to the mountains right outside my window felt unreal like a postcard coming to life. Whether it was early morning sunshine spilling across the peaks or the mountains glowing at sunset, every moment felt picture perfect. The hotel is tucked in a spot where you can enjoy the scenery from almost anywhere, making it the perfect escape if you love nature and peaceful surroundings. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up, also easy access to Canmore town restaurants near by very affordable prices as well and the stay overall felt relaxing from start to finish. If you’re visiting Canmore and want a place where the mountain views are truly incredible, Northwind Hotels is absolutely worth it.

Really clean beautifully updated rooms with comfy beds. Huge TV above the fireplace. Walking distance to everything. They also really stick to the quiet after 10pm policy. Would stay again for sure.

Exceptional Stay at Northwinds Hotel Canmore! Our stay at Northwinds Hotel Canmore was absolutely wonderful! The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained — offering the perfect blend of comfort and mountain charm. A special thank-you to Ruth, the manager, for her outstanding hospitality and professionalism. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect during our stay and truly made us feel welcome. Her kindness and attention to detail set this hotel apart. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and pleasant. The staff were courteous, the location was excellent, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend Northwinds Hotel Canmore — and especially Ruth and her amazing team — for anyone visiting the Rockies!

[Visited 2026 February] The rooms were pretty big and clean with king bed. Reception desk is manned all night which is really great because I checked in at 2am. There is also an online check in option so you can go straight to your room with the code to the room lock. If that is your preferred option, make sure you do this ahead of time so you get the code information before you arrive.

Me and my friend both were really happy with the service. Alexander was really kind and and also gave good tips on where to visit in the area. It was great to meet someone who spoke Russian, as our English is not that good.
